(Feel free to skip this part) What is the “Uji de omatsuri Festival “? It’s an official event held annually in Uji City, Kyoto, since 2015 (when Sound! Euphonium first aired). While the main focus is the talk show segments, the atmosphere is so relaxed and cozy that it often feels like “neither the organizers nor us geeks are exactly sure what kind of event this is, yet here we are in Uji every year.” This would technically be the 11th time, but due to COVID-19 and rough weather in the past, this marks our 9th actual gathering. (Sorry, just geeking out at high speed here!)

Since 2017, we have been sending flowers (Flower Stands / Flasta) to this event on behalf of “All Fans.” This year, we’re planning another big floral display and are looking for participants to join us! We’d be thrilled to have you on board to send these flowers together. ☆

▲ This is what they look like ✿

■ For First-Timers: What is a “Flasta” Project?

It refers to a tradition where fans pool small amounts of money to send a large bouquet of flowers.

For those with time: Deep Dive into the Project

(I’ve listed some FAQs here for those who want the nitty-gritty details.)

◎ Disclaimers & Refunds

  • If the event is postponed: We will reschedule the flowers for the new date. No refunds; the project simply shifts.
  • If the event is canceled: We will issue full refunds and cancel the project.

◎ Running at a Loss Beyond being a fan project, I intentionally manage the finances so we end up “in the red” for accounting reasons. Over the 17+ stands I’ve organized, we’ve never turned a profit. On average, I cover a deficit of 50k–150k JPY personally. Total funds handled so far exceed 4 million JPY. By keeping the project officially at a loss, it simplifies the accounting structure. All participation fees go directly into the flowers and printing; I cover the overhead costs. I dislike being this blunt, but I’m sharing this because occasionally there are rumors that these projects are for-profit. They are not.

◎ Why We Send Flowers to “Euphonium” Every Year If you attend KyoAni events, you might notice some have very few flowers. In 2017, this was really noticeable, so I decided we should send them every time. A venue without big flowers for our favorite series feels lonely.

I also want to provide a “role model” for how fan-funded stands can work in this community. Feel free to copy our methods!

On a meta-level, Eupho events often lack “photo spots.” I realized that looking back at my camera roll, I didn’t have many photos to remember the day by. These stands with fan art provide a small memory for everyone to capture.

When you join a project like this, don’t you feel a bit more “involved”? Like, “I wonder how our flowers look?” I hope this project serves as a hook for you to remember these moments—now and years from now.

Thanks for joining us again!

Would you like me to adjust the tone to be more formal, or perhaps condense any of the sections for a social media post?
